Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our privilege and great pleasure to invite you to the first edition of the Medical Robotics Week (MRW) 2021. Due to the pandemic situation and the safety of our health, MRW 2021 will be held virtually, organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Basel.

The virtual Medical Robotics Week 2021 offers three exciting events: MESROB 2021, AUTOMED 2021 and Conference Workshops.

The seventh edition of the International Workshop on New Trends in Medical and Service Robots (MESROB 2021) will take place from 07. – 9. June 2021 virtually. The MESROB 2021 is an established conference of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM). MESROB 2021 will provide exclusive insights in research on the MIRACLE project (Minimal Invasive Robot-Assisted Computer-guided LaserosteotoME) at the University of Basel. Also, participants will be able to experience the spirit of the CYBATHLON, a competition and platform to drive forward research and development of assistance systems for everyday use. In addition, MESROB 2021 will host a special session on “Standards and best practices in medical robotics” organized by IISART (the International Industry Society in Advanced Rehabilitation Technology).

Besides MESROB 2021, the fifteenth edition of the Interdisciplinary Symposium on Automation in Medical Engineering (AUTOMED 2021) will take place from 08. – 09. June 2021 virtually. AUTOMED 2021 will provide exclusive insights into current trends of automation in medical engineering and provide a forum for new research results in this field. The interdisciplinary orientation of the event is intended to deepen existing and to create new synergies between technical and medical sciences.

The MRW2021 will be complemented by three virtual Conference Workshops from 10. – 11. June 2021.

You are cordially invited to join the Medical Robotics Week 2021. We very much look forward to your participation and to virtually welcoming you with open arms to Basel!

Kind regards on behalf of the MESROB 2021 Steering Committee
